Why I love wearing dresses!

Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I LIVE in dresses! They are my go-to fashion item no matter what the season – a cute floral dress can be teamed with sandals in summer, or tights and boots in winter and look totally adorable either way. The thing I love the most about a great dress is its ability to flatter any body type. I am short and most of my weight is carried in my stomach, thigh and chest area, so the classic lines on a vintage inspired dress work perfectly to accentuate my best features (and hide less impressive ones).

However, this isn’t something I have always known. If I was to take to back over 5 years ago you would have seen me in only jeans or shorts and baggy shirts, and for some reason I though this hid the extra weight I was carrying (yep, I lost 20kgs). I look back on pictures now and know this definitely wasn’t the case, the billowing shirts and fitted pedal-pushers merely emphasised my less impressive features. Today I barely own any pants or jeans, and really only have them when I travel to colder climates. I do however have about 100 dresses and skirt and today I wanted to share with you a few of my latest purchases and wish list items. These classic cuts are both famine and versatile allowing you to either play them up or down. For anyone who reads my blog regularly, you will know I love vintage and second-hand items but I also have a few key stores that I love to shop at and really love their quality, unique styling and vintage inspiration. I also LOVE sales, and most of my recent purchases are sale items – You really don’t have to spend big to look and feel GREAT!

  1. I love dresses as well! Last year I was definitely dress crazy and was constantly wearing them though I’ve calmed down now and have adopted more shorts and jeans however I still love a dress for literally any occasion. You have an amazing taste in dresses too! Love all these picks.

    1. Thank Kyah and I can totally relate… I do feel I need to invest in some new jeans with winter coming, just for casual outings. Plus then I can get addicted to cute t’shirt instead 🙂

  2. You look amazing. I love a good day dress Tahiti and shirt dresses are a must have for me. Loving the H&m floral dress you have pictured!

    1. Thanks so much Lisa!! I must admit the H&M Dress is a current favourite, I can really dress it up or down which has been great for our Summer/Autumn.

  3. I LOVE wearing dresses, even in the Winter. They’re somehow warmer in winter and cooler in summer. I love your collection (even though this was a partial list!) Such a pretty combination of patterns and colours.

    1. Thanks so much Debonita! I do really love the vintage dress I wore to a recent wedding, it is such a flattering cut (and leave room to eat a big dinner and not feel conscious lol). Thanks so much for visiting <3

  4. I’ve recently gotten into wearing skirts and dresses. Before, I never felt confident in them. Now, I work it. I love all of your great dress picks. They’re so awesome!

    1. You go Hannah!!! It is all about the right cut for your body shape… trial and error really but once you are onto a winner you flaunt it 🙂

  5. I really like dresses too – but I find none that really flatter myself. (I’m rather rounded. Lol)

My favorites are the second on that you’re in as well as the last one. I love the vintage look as well. You’ve inspired me to find a few more flattering pieces to add to my wardrobe this year. Thanks!

    1. I am glad to be of inspiration Chel! I really think it comes down to trial and error and really just finding what style suits you. I believe dress as for everyone, so happy shopping. 🙂

  6. I love these! My whole life (even when I was 2 years old) I’ve preferred dresses and skirts over pants. I’m hunting for some good spring/summer dresses now, but I like dark colors and loose fits (hard to find for the warm seasons in the US). Great style, I love your blog!

    1. Thanks so much Hannah – Really glad you found my blog! Darker styles can be harder to find in the summer months as they do tend to go for the “summery feel” but I have faith that you will find a winner. Happy shopping. 🙂

  7. These dresses are so adorable.I tend too avoid them during the winter b/c I can’t stand the cold, but now that it’s warming up I’m looking forward to getting back to them!

    1. Thanks for dropping by Roxy and I can totally understand that. Where I live we don’t really have a proper winter so I can get away with it more I think. 😉

  8. These dresses are all so adorable! I was never a fan of them growing up, but now that I’m older, I’m addicted to them haha I’ve bought so many for this summer. I cant wait to wear them.

  9. Hun I love this post. I am a big dress person especially for summer! I really love the Dotti dress (which i’ve wanted forever) and the Piper dress / you have great style! 🙂

    1. Glad you are coming around to skirts Abby! Like you said they are so versatile, and just so easy to dress up or down, cold or hot weather… Thanks for visiting!

  10. I’m the same, I never used to wear dresses and skirts and lived in baggy tshirts or hoodies and jeans or baggy trousers!! Now, I love dresses (not so much skirts as I never know what to wear them with) and will also go for a dress over jeans now.
